Speedometer Gear Reference Table | Rear differential swap, Winter 99/00 | 99 Corvette Caravan | Jacking a C4 Corvette
Here's the car in all it's splendor!! Mods to date: K&N Filter, Open Lid (Waiting on BPP Vortex Results) Ported plenum, TPIS Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, G92 Option upgraded to G44 Gearing (3.07), Brute Force "U" Joints, ported intake base and runners, polished intake base, runners and plenum, Stewart Stage I water pump, Grand Sport Brakes, Peformance Friction Pads, Flowmaster Force II Exhaust, Throttle Body Coolant Bypass, 180 Thermostat, and 5 spoke wheels. Bet you can't identify the wheels?
This is something you don't see too often, a convertible C4 Vette with the hardtop on. This was only the second time this top had been on the car, the first time was when it was delivered from the factory. When I put it on, I thought that it was a pain to bolt all the attachments in place. Later I found out that the brackets behind the seats actually tie into a roll bar in the roof. Somehow, this seems to make the effort to put the roof on less painful. The plan for Winter 00/01 was to polish some of the aluminum engine parts, but that has mushroomed to include new leather seat covers, a new water pump and some porting of the base intake and runners to complement the ported plenum. The seat covers weren't part of the original plan for this winter, but after a botched repair to the seat by a local upholstery shop, it was the only thing that could be done to salvage the looks of the interior of the car.
As Paul Harvey says, "Here is the rest of the story"! Anyone from the C4 section of corvetteforum.com should recognize this image as it graces the top of the C4 discussion page. This photo was taken in the summer of 98 in Acadia National Park. This was the first trip we took in the Vette and we had a ball. The car "made" the trip. The only problem we had was heavy rain the day we came home. That is when I discovered what P275/40ZR17 tires are like when they are old and have low tread, can you say skating rink!!!! I guess it likes to rain when we return from a trip with the Vette, see what happened during the Bowling Green trip.
