Here I plan to publish some general tuning tips as well as my latest spark and fuel tables. For those who have a Holley Commander EFI system, I'll also make my entire setup file available.

The calibration is still somewhat a work in progress. Although the engine runs great I regularly find little improvements here and there.

First, here are the engine and car specifications:

• 454 Cui Chevy BB bored 030.
• Flattop pistons yielding ~9.5:1 compression.
• Edelbrock 100cc aluminum heads, oval ports. 2.19/1.88 valves. 290 cc runners.
• Competition Cams custom grind: 224/230 @050 duration, 0.573/0.585 lift, 114 LSA.
• Hooker Super Competition 1 7/8" headers. Dual 2.5" exhaust with X-pipe. Walker Turbo mufflers and Dynomax resonators (quiet).
• Holley Multiport EFI, Oval port.1000 CFM throttle body.
• 42 lbs injectors, 43 PSI fuel pressure.
• 5-speed manual. 3.27:1 1st gear, 0.68:1 5th (Tremec TKO).
• 3.08 Final drive.
• 1700 rpm @ 60 mph in 5th.
• Vehicle weight without driver approx 3300 lbs.
• Fuel: 89 Octane unleaded.
• Idle vacuum: 18.5" Hg @ 850rpm.

The spark map has been stable lately and I don't think it will change much.

The fuel map is still being refined. I just got my Tech Edge 2.0 Wideband O2 setup working and I'm finding little things here and there. It is interesting that the engine wants more fuel at 1500 rpm than 1700. I figure 1500 must be a tuning point resonance in the induction and exhaust system.

And here's the entire file. Note that you need the race-option C950 software to read the file.

The forum software does not allow the .950 extension so it is stored as .txt. To retrieve the file, right-click and choose "save as". Then rename the file with a .950 extension.
