Fantasy became reality in April of 1998 when I rescued this 1976 Corvette Stingray from a 12 year hibernation. I had dreamed of someday owning a vette since I was around 15 years old. Over the years, I read every article I could find, stopped to look at every one I saw, and test drove one's with 'for sale' signs, even though I knew they were out of my reach. I began seriously looking for a C3 Stingray in the fall of '97. Some were beautiful, full restorations with outrageous price tags, others where basket cases far beyond my ambition and mechanical know how.

The original owner placed this one in storage in 1986 when he started a family, intending to fix it up for his son someday but finacial concerns forced its sale. Over the 12 years that it sat, he drove it around the block periodically to keep the engine tight and seals lubricated. When I first saw it, the odometer read 56,578 miles. Since bringing it home, a great deal of time and yes money, has been invested to get it looking and running as well as it does.

I added an 81/82 style rear spolier and had the car repainted. All of the belts, hoses and tires, as well as the entire brake system, power steering pump, starter, rear bearings and spindles have been replaced. The power plant is a mostly stock L48 with a few slight modifications to enhance performance. The interior showed signs of age so the carpet, seat foam and seat covers have all been replaced too. No this is not a mid-life crisis, simply fulfillment of a 30 year old dream. Afterall, aren't all dreams meant to come true?

Thanks for dropping by. If you haven't already, take a moment and sign my guestbook, it's always good to hear from others who enjoy Corvettes as much as I do.
